This spring, students have been learning about marketing, branding, logo design, use of fonts and colors, and tee-shirt designing. To complete our unit, Dewey's first and second grade students visited Susan Peterson's classes at the Tri County Technology Center. It was important to Mrs. Henley that after learning about graphic design, students were able to become a part of the process. Students were given the opportunity to work with Tri County students to create graphic design materials and also learn what graphic design college classes would look and feel like.
The students learned about the entire process of putting together a Dewey inspired spiral notebook from beginning to end and realized there are several steps in the creation process. Students also created coloring books and vinyl stickers to put on their notebooks.
They then visited the Engineering Department as a preview of next year's curriculum. Students toured with Brenda Jackson, a Pre-Engineering Instructor and learned about their 3D printing and robotics curriculum.
